2020 Jean-Louis Chave "Clos Florentin" Saint-Joseph Rouge (Rhone Valley, FR) 7R

    94-96 points, The Wine Advocate

"To date, this is the only single-parcel wine Chave has released from Saint Joseph. The 2018 Saint Joseph Le Clos Florentin boasts wonderfully pure blueberries on the nose, with just the slightest hints of herbs and Asian five-spice powder. Full-bodied, it's deep and rich, supple on the mid-palate, then silky and fine on the finish. In less than a generation, Jean-Louis Chave has created one of Saint Joseph's top wines." - Joe Czerwinski

    About The Varietal

    Syrah

Shiraz and Syrah are interchangeable names for the same dark-skinned grape variety when viewed in terms of DNA. Originating in the Rhône Valley, this grape dominates plantings in the northern section of the valley. The name Shiraz is commonly used in Australia and certain regions of the New World, particularly those with warmer climates. The stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah wines are often distinct, contributing to the enduring dual identities of this grape variety.
