2017 Clos Rougeard "Poyeaux" Saumur-Champigny (Loire Valley, FR) 3R

Clos Rougeard has gained renown as a revered winemaker with a cult following due to their wines' exceptional quality and extremely limited production of approximately 2500 cases annually. Terroir and historical significance hold a special place at Clos Rougeard, with Les Poyeux originating from a plot of land that has been cultivated since 1664. The Foucault brothers' winemaking philosophy is rooted in minimal intervention, ultra-low yields, absence of chemicals or pesticides, hand-harvested grapes, natural yeast fermentation, no filtration or fining, and the use of gravity for bottling after aging in oak for up to 24 months.

    About The Varietal

    Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a dark-skinned grape variety of French origin cultivated in numerous wine-producing regions across the globe. It is best recognized for its significant role as a red grape variety in the Loire Valley and as the third most important grape in Bordeaux. Cabernet Franc is also a common component in many of the world's finest Bordeaux blend wines.
