It is a rarity for a winemaker in Dão, especially an outsider, to spotlight Alfrocheiro, a grape often reserved for blending. However, under the skillful guidance of Seabra, Mono A defies convention, allowing the natural charm and aromatics of Alfrocheiro—supported by the distinctive tannins from the granite terroir—to shine, revealing the potential of this lesser-known varietal. With its aromatic profile and soft tannins, this wine stands excellently on its own but also pairs wonderfully with mountain-inspired dishes such as mushroom dishes, meat and vegetable stews, and even heartier game bird preparations.
