2017 Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Crianza (Rioja, SP) 5R

The 2017 Crianza Señorío de P. Peciña is a blend of 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano, and 2% Garnacha from the Sonsierra region in Rioja Alta. Aged for 24 months in used American oak barrels, this garnet-colored wine with a brick-like sheen presents aromas of red apple peel, cherry, cedar, vanilla, with subtle hints of coconut and nutmeg. It is dry and juicy, with a somewhat rugged texture due to its high volatile acidity, resulting in a pronounced oxidized character.

    About The Varietal

    Rioja Red Blend

Rioja Red Blend is a term used to describe the combination of red-wine varieties grown in the Rioja DOCa in Northern Spain. With a base of Tempranillo, the additional varietals can be Grenache, Carignan or Graciano. Outside of Spain, these blends are occasionally found in California and South Australia.
