A wine with a story as poignant as its taste, this Chenin Blanc is one of the Loire Valley’s hidden gems. Following his passions, winemaker David Foubert, a former Parisian journalist, moved to the Loire Valley with his wife Anne-Cecile with little more than a passion for wine. He put himself through a winemaking program, and summarily created his first cuvee in 2014 – all without his own winery! Renting small plots of land to work from retired winemaker Philippe Gourdon, David’s wines are full of all the energy and nerve of a new winemaker.
A clean, pure style of Chenin, this wine carries dense, ripe citrus notes, toasted almonds, and piercing minerality. Extremely expressive, this bottle offers more and more each time you consider the glass. Grown according to biodynamic principles, and rooted in limestone soils, the character of both the terroir and the winemaker is evident here. Perfect by itself before dinner, this wine would also pair wonderfully with any shellfish or light cheeses.
