SPOTLIGHT WINE: 2014 Domaine de la Cote ‘Sta. Rita Hills’ Pinot Noir (Lompoc, CA) *1R*

Rajat Parr, the man behind Domaine de la Cote, is a three-time James Beard Award-winning author, sommelier, and winemaker for multiple projects. This chance to taste one of his flagship Pinot Noirs should not be missed! Rajat’s vision for Domaine de la Cote is to make serious, terroir expressive wines worthy of aging from vineyards in Santa Barbara County. That is no easy task, but his 2014 offering truly hits a home run!

The appellation level ‘Sta. Rita Hills’ Pinot Noir is the product of blending grapes from all the Domaine de la Cote estate vineyards. Using 50% whole cluster fermentation, and no new oak during the aging process, the ‘Sta. Rita Hills’ Pinot offers bright notes of cherry, spice, and leather, with a luscious finish and silky texture. If properly stored, we believe that this wine will develop beautifully for the next 7+ years, and become a truly remarkable, complex bottle.

Antonio Galloni, wine critic and founder of, calls the 2014 ‘Sta. Rita Hills’ Pinot Noir an “…absolutely delicious wine that also captures the essence of the house style. Lifted and gracious, the 2014 offers striking purity in its flavors, not to mention impeccable overall balance. Citrus, cranberry, strawberry and expressive floral notes grace the taut, salivating finish.”
