Events

As always our regularly scheduled tastings are held on Thursday and Fridays from 5-8, and on Saturdays from 2-5 (UGSE) and 3-6 (UGCH). “UGCH” designates that the tasting is held at our Chestnut Hill store, while “UGSE” denotes the South End store.

Winemaker Event; Marina Fogarty of Piedmont’s Vallana Winery!

Marina Fogarty along with her brother Francis are the 5th generation winemakers at the historic Vallana estate in the Alto Piemonte region which includes the Boca DOC and the Gattinara DOCG. She gets her last name from an English father, Guy Fogarty, who fell in love with her mother, Giuseppina Vallana, and married into the family. The fantastic alpine-inspired Nebbiolo wines are fermented in lined cement tanks, aged in old wood, and undergo extended bottle-aging before release. The current release Boca is already 7 years old while the current release Gattinara is 9 years old! Marina will be featuring the 2010 Spanna, 2007 Boca, 2005 Gattinara, and a rare library vintage of 1997 Gattinara!

Lejay: The Original Crème de Cassis

It was in 1841, in Dijon in the heart of Burgundy, that Auguste Denis Lagoute created the original Crème de Cassis. Henri Lejay, who married Elisabeth Lagoute, daughter of the founder, quickly made his mark in the family House. Since then, generation to generation have joyfully paid homage to the nobility of the fruit. Paulina, ambassador of Lejay will be making sparkling cocktails with this delicious French Cassis Liqueur.
