| As always our regularly scheduled tastings are held on Thursday and Fridays from 5-8 and on Saturdays from 2-5. Here are some additional fun events that are happening at UG this month.
LOCAL DOMINATION Superbowl Party! Get everything you need to prep for The Big Game at our LOCAL DOMINATION Superbowl tasting featuring three hot new Boston-area commodities. First up? Backlash Beer, a local beer so popular that is sells out almost the moment their new brews hit the shelf. Next, Privateer Rum, who will be sampling their locally distilled rum AND sampling their “Giant Killer” punch. And every Superbowl party needs guac. Why make your own when you can sample and buy Patty’s Fresh Guacamole right at UG? One stop Superbowl shopping!
Celebrate Heart Month with Ehlers Estate and the Mandarin Oriental We took place in this event last year and are happy to have been asked to participate again. Ehlers Estate, one of our favorite Cab and Merlot producers, hosts a wine evening at the Mandarin Oriental to taste four of winemaker Kevin Morrisey’s best wines, all paired with tasty bites from the M Bar. Last year’s group was so much fun that half of us went out for drinks and dessert after! The night is led by Armen Khachaturian, the National Sales Manager for Ehlers. He’s a complete joy to spend the evening with and we hope you’ll join us. A percentage of the cost is donated to the Boston chapter of the American Heart Association.
Valentine’s Day Celebration at The Urban Grape Sample and buy chocolates from local chocolatier Yes Chocolates while you sip on Champagne and Fair Café (the world’s first fare trade certified coffee liqueur!). One stop shopping for all you’ll need to celebrate your honey on the big day.
On the Wings of Love At UG, we hear time and again that our single customers really want to meet other like-minded singles with a passion for food and wine. Join UG, BabyTrain Catering and The Boston WingWomen for an exploration of good wine and food that will get your senses enlivened and the ice broken. Think oysters, chocolate, red wine and whiskey! The women’s tickets are sold out. Please click here to purchase the men’s tickets.
Whole Foods Brighton Cheese and Wine Pairing! Join the cheese mongers from Whole Foods Brighton as they once again share their favorite wines paired with the perfect wine from UG.
Stag’s leap District Wine Dinner with The Fireplace Jim Solomon, the chef/owner of The Fireplace in Brookline, has been the recipient over the years of some of the finest wine made in the Stag’s Leap District of Napa. All of this wine has been carefully cellared and he’s now breaking it open to share with us. These are wines that are not available for purchase anywhere, much less to even be able to try. He’s created a seasonal menu to pair with each of the five courses (which includes things like Filet Mignon paired with 1999 Stags Leap Winery Cabernet and Seared Scallops with Lobster Hash paired with 1999 Hartwell’s Estate Mystique Cabernet). TJ will be there to talk about the wines and Stags Leap in general. Cozied up by the fireplace, it’s sure to be a fantastic event.
Home Mixology Night with The Hawthorne Although we love and revere the cocktail, most of us are still unsure how to mix it up in our own homes. Never fear, UG is bringing you the Sensei himself, Jackson Cannon of Eastern Standard, ICO Bar and the newly opened The Hawthorne, to lead a Home Mixology seminar. Along with his disciple, Nicole Lebedevitch, Jackson will help us decipher what spirits are absolutely necessary for a home bar, as well as how to get creative when it comes time to mix a drink. Tickets to this event are almost sold out. Please click here to purchase!
Whole Foods Brighton Cheese and Wine Pairing! Join the cheese mongers from Whole Foods Brighton as they once again share their favorite wines paired with the perfect wine from UG.
Let’s Hear it for the Girls! Join the ladies of LUPEC Boston while we celebrate Women’s History Month and the fact that female vintners, brewers and distillers are taking the beverage world by the….well, you know what we’re getting at. We’ll pay homage to these woman-made elixirs while filling up on perfectly paired small plates from Executive Chef Brian Reyelt of Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar. **As usual, the event costs $15, but given the theme, we do ask that each of our guests please bring a gently used piece of women’s clothing to the store to be donated to Dress for Success.** Tickets to the event are now on sale. Please click here to purchase.
Kosher with a Kick! KWAK has become a right of passage into spring – an annual celebration of food and wine, friendship and community. This year, TJ will pick the kosher wines he feels will best suit your Passover table, while celebrated chef Michael Scelfo of Russell House Tavern will re-imagine traditional Passover food to have a sustainable, seasonally-inspired, classic New England feel. **Please note that the food at this tasting will not be prepared in a kosher kitchen.** Tickets are on sale now!
