Wine Cellar Consultations
The Urban Grape prides itself on offering hundreds of wines at an every day price point. We also pride ourselves on carrying hard to find, collector bottles at both stores. Additionally, our industry relationships mean that we often receive wines that are highly allocated or typically reserved only for restaurants.
A well-rounded, fully-stocked wine cellar is a passion for many serious wine collectors. However, the import and blue book laws in Massachusetts make it nearly impossible for wineries to ship directly to individuals. Therefore, an excellent relationship with a local wine shop becomes a necessity for collectors.
Cellar consultations are available by appointment with owner TJ Douglas. They consist of high-end bottle tastings to ascertain the client’s palate, followed by a tailored proposal of suggested wines from around the globe. TJ calls distributors personally to acquire the wines for your cellar at the best price possible. In many cases, the wines are already at our Chestnut Hill store in our temperature and humidity controlled wine Eurocave.
Our concierge service concludes with the delivery, organization and stocking of your cellar.
If you would like to schedule a cellar consultation to help build your wine collection, please email TJ Douglas.
“I have been lucky enough to attend a variety of wine tastings at the Urban Grape. My employer has hosted team-building events at UGSE, and we’ve tapped them for our corporate needs multiple times. My high school, Winsor, has organized fun and informative tastings at both of their locations as a great way to gather alums together.
To me, their customer service is what truly sets the Urban Grape apart from other stores. TJ and Hadley, the owners, set a high standard for their employees and they have created an environment where it feels like you’re asking a friend for advice vs. a stranger. They have yet to steer me, or our company, wrong with their wine and spirits suggestions; I wish them continued success – here’s a toast to Urban Grape!”

“Under the leadership of Diane Paulus, the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of theater. Winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival for its production of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, the A.R.T. is a leading force in the American theater, producing groundbreaking work in Cambridge and beyond. As our 2012/13 Season Wine Sponsors, The Urban Grape has enabled us to offer a stellar selection of delicious, affordable wines at our concession stand and at our donor events. Further, as a non-profit organization, we have been deeply appreciative of TJ and Hadley’s personal connection to the A.R.T., as well as their profoundly generous support of our fundraising initiatives.”
