A priest, a rabbi and a minister walk into The Urban Grape and say, “Hey! They have something for everyone here!” The Urban Grape is proud to offer an extensive line of Kosher and Mevushal wines. We offer these wines at all price points and all year round. L’Chaim!
Here are some of our favorite Kosher and Mevushal wines at the store right now:
En Fuego Cava
Cava is the sparkling wine of Spain made in the same process as champagne, but not meant for long aging. En Fuego cava opens to reveal yeast, toast, and citrus. This kosher sparkling is light to medium bodied with a finish that is long and bubbly with toast and a touch of bitterness reminiscent of lemon herbal tea.
2007 Tabor “Adama Volcanic” Cabernet Sauvignon
Hailing from northern Israel’s Galilee region is the Tabor Cabernet, which boasts notes of black fruits intertwined with cedar wood and dark chocolate. Dark garnet, and full-bodied, with fine grained tannins integrating nicely. On the long finish a surprising burst of licorice.
2008 Alate Tempranillo
This wonderful Tempranillo comes from the region of Navarra in Northern Spain and does not sacrifice flavor to be kosher. The nose is reminiscent of a cherry pie with sweet and savory characteristics. The wine is dry and medium bodied with plenty of plum and ripe red fruit with a hint of earth and tobacco.
2010 Lan Zur Sauvignon Blanc
The Lan Zur Kosher Sauvignon Blanc from the Lontue Valley in Chile offers soft, round fruit flavors, balanced bright acidity and a smooth, refreshing finish. It’s a perfect go-to wine for casual dinner parties, barbecues and weeknight dinners at home.
