Summer is officially here, and the UG has an exciting lineup of wines to keep your palate refreshed! Our July, “Red, White & BBQ” Urban Sampler delivers four wines which are great to bring to your rooftop get-togethers, 4th of July parties, beach outings, and of course — backyard BBQs. Bring this month’s Urban Sampler along on your summer getaways and keep the good vibes going with these crowd-pleasing, thirst-quenching wines!

2014 Caves de Pomerol Picpoul de Pinet 2W 100% Picpoul (Languedoc, France)

Located along the southwestern shores of the Mediterranean in France’s Languedoc, this “Muscadet of the South” is made with picpoul grapes. Pale yellow in color and showing aromas of grapefruit and exotic fruit, this wine delivers great acidity on the palate. A perfect mate with fresh shellfish and seafood this summer!

2015 J. Portugal Ramos Vinho Verde Rosado P 50% Touriga Nacional, 20% Espadeiro, 30% Padeiro (Alentejo, Portugal)    

 João Portugal Ramos, one of Portugal’s most famous winemakers crafts his Vinho Verde Rosado from Touriga Nacional, Padeiro and Espa grapes. This Rosado is bright pink in color and offers fresh fruit aromas on the nose and a long finish on the palate. Perfect as an aperitif, or try with tuna sashimi!

2013 Capestrano Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 3R 100% Montepulciano (Abruzzo, Italy)

Located in the heart of the Abruzzo, at the foot of the Gran Sasso Mountains, the village of Capestrano is home to an ideal microclimate for growing the Montepulciano varietal. The Capestrano Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a pleasant medium-bodied wine with aromas and flavors of black cherry, blueberry and plum, and pairs well with a variety of dishes such pizzas, pastas, and cheeses.

2014 Escarlata Red Blend 5R 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 20% Carmenere, 20% Malbec (Valle del Curicó, Chile)

The Escarlata is a red blend of estate grapes grown in Chile’s Colchagua Valley. This four varietal blend exhibits vibrant fresh fruit and a touch of oak to add depth and complexity. Enjoy with dinner, or solo!
