It turns out I have Lyme disease. And have had it for a while. Hence the headaches, muscle aches, joint pain and general malaise of the past year. I am generally thrilled to have this information and to know that it is not something life-threatening, but here’s the crazy part.
I can’t drink during my treatment. And my treatment could take up to six months.
This isn’t the first time I’ve not been able to drink for a stretch of time. After all, we have two healthy, gorgeous kids who benefitted from my putting down the wine glass (most of the time). But it IS the first time since we opened The Urban Grape and since my entire day focused around alcohol of every kind. I feel like what makes me and TJ such a great pair is that he can give you the facts and I can break it down.
TJ: Aromas of strawberry, with a medium body and a fresh acidity that leaves you craving for another sip. This is a rocking wine.
Me: For realz, you’ve got to try this wine, it was so good with my fish taco!
Yin and yang, frick and frack, Mo and Larry…we’re a good combo.
Oh well, at least I found out after the gin and tonic and rosé season, right? All I know is, when I CAN drink again, I’m putting a picture of it on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and telling you all, in no uncertain terms, how good it tastes. And I won’t be drinking it with a pounding headache, which is a win-win for everyone.
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and thoughts from my post earlier this summer. Without that, I might never have found the answer!
